Kristaps Porzingis, New York Knicks
PHOENIX, AZ – JANUARY 26: Kristaps Porzingis /

5. New York Knicks

The Knicks will have a new coach, and with Kristaps Porzingis’ status for next season as a whole possibly up in the air after a torn ACL they could use another star. Leonard would provide that, assuming his own health.

In this scenario the Kicks would send guard Courtney Lee, point guard Emmanuel Mudiay, point guard Trey Burke and their 2018 first-round pick to the Spurs for Leonard. The money lines up, and a lottery pick sure to fall in the top-10 overall sweetens the pot for San Antonio.

Burke’s value may never by higher after a nice late-season run with the Knicks, and it’s hard to see them giving up on 2017 lottery pick Frank Ntilikina so quickly. Opening up an opportunity for Ntilikina, after he averaged less than 22 minutes per game and started just nine of 78 contests as a rookie, has to be a priority for the Knicks. So that puts Mudiay on the move as well.
