So which teams made trade offers for Andrew Luck?

2. New York Jets

The Jets currently have five quarterbacks on their roster, after re-signing Josh McCown, signing Teddy Bridgewater and drafting Sam Darnold No. 3 overall. One or both of Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg will be gone, but the Jets haven’t had a franchise quarterback in a very long time (since Joe Namath, really). While Darnold might prove to be the guy, an offer to acquire Luck at some point in the recent past is definitely possible.

The Jets and Colts worked together on a trade to swap first-round picks this year, as the Jets moved from No. 6 to No. 3 in order to put themselves in a position to get one of the top quarterbacks in the 2018 class. That worked out well, perhaps better than general manager Mike Maccagnan could have envisioned as Darnold fell a couple picks.

But it’s not necessarily a reach to think Luck’s name came up in the background of those aforementioned trade discussions, since the deal was done so far before the draft, even with a quick “no way” from the Colts. You don’t know unless you ask, right?
