Sample Lineup Number One

P – Gerrit Cole

C/1B – Kendrys Morales

2B – Whit Merrifield

3B – Danny Valencia

SS – Xander Bogaerts

OF – Ben Zobrist, Dee Gordon, Kyle Schwarber

Utility – Kyle Seager

As is always the case with the first sample lineup, we’re going to lock in that ace pitcher first and foremost. I can’t run away from Cole until he lets me down as I think he could be the A.L. Cy Young award winner this season. His stuff is that good and he’s cooking with gas right now. From there, it’s a bit of a studs and duds approach. Valencia and Morales are nice cheap options, Zobrist is just chalk we’re gonna eat, and then we stack a couple Mariners lefty bats to go along with the power of Schwarber. Bogaerts at a great value finishes this lineup off and it’s got a very solid chance to do well.

Sample Lineup Number Two

P – Nick Kingham

C/1B – Carlos Santana

2B – Yoan Moncada

3B – Kyle Seager

SS – Manny Machado

OF – Ben Zobrist, Dee Gordon, Nelson Cruz

Utility – Paul Goldschmidt

So this lineup just really shows how much you can afford with Kingham and a minimum priced Zobrist in the lineup. Basically, you play whoever you’d like to. Since this a GPP style lineup, I’d go for book with the Mariners stack and then elite one-offs in Goldy and Machado. Moncada and Santana should be able to do some serious damage given their matchups and this lineup could be a lot of fun to play as a small stakes entry.

Stacks to Consider: Mariners (at Cleveland), Cubs (vs. Milwaukee), Blue Jays (vs. Texas), Cardinals (at Pittsburgh if Kingham goes south), Orioles (vs. Detroit)
