When it came time for the Denver Broncos to pick at No. 5 overall, they were probably thinking they would end up trading the pick to Buffalo. Instead, the Cleveland Browns selected Denzel Ward at No. 4, which meant Bradley Chubb was still available. An elite edge rusher, Chubb was too good to pass up, and he will now play his home games inside Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

The pick was as solid as they come, and it also showed there was no quarterback they liked in the draft class. This offseason, the Broncos grabbed Case Keenum on a two-year deal, and he will get every chance to make Denver his home over the next few seasons. However, the team may want to draft an arm in 2019, where there are once again some elite options at the position.

Guys like Drew Lock and Shea Patterson are going to go in the first round, but so is Justin Herbert from Oregon. Herbert stepped onto the scene as a freshman in Eugene, and quickly established himself as one of the best signal-callers in the Pac-12. He will be asked to do a lot more with Royce Freeman graduating, but should cement himself as a top-15 pick in next year’s draft with another solid season.
