The Kansas City Chiefs had a pretty solid 2018 NFL Draft, considering they traded away their first round pick during the 2017 NFL Draft. Looking ahead to the 2018 season, the Chiefs have a lot of question marks, especially at the game’s most important position. Patrick Mahomes II will take over for Alex Smith at quarterback in 2018, as Smith was shipped to Washington after leading the team to back-to-back AFC West titles.

Mahomes is a very talented player, and the team thought so highly of him that they traded up to get him in 2017. He has a nice cast of weapons around him as well, so he should be fine, even as a rookie. The issue is do they have enough talent on this roster to make the playoffs next season, because if they do not, they will find themselves picking in the top-15 of the 2019 NFL Draft next April.

With their first round pick in 2019, the Chiefs should consider bringing in another player to help with the pass rush. The Clemson Tigers will have the best defensive line in college football next season, and Clelin Ferrell is as good as it gets when it comes to defensive ends. He would be a perfect fit in Kansas City, who continues to get younger on defense, and will be playoff contender for the next ten seasons.
