Dallas Stars: Jordie Benn

People know Jordie Benn for one of two thing — he is the brother of Stars star Jamie Benn and he has a great beard. Jordie played six years alongside his brother Jamie in Dallas before being traded to the Montreal Canadiens in the 2016-17 season.

Benn and his massive chin-chilla now grace the Montreal Canadiens bench, awaiting a playoff run to get to another level of unruliness. The defenseman has only 88 points in 392 NHL games, but who knows what powers his beard will unleash come a good playoff run.

When it comes to Benn, there seems to be more written about his beard than his career. In either case, there is not much. He’s a solid defender who is a nice addition to any team without hitting the salary cap too hard. In an interview with Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette, Benn said the last time he shaved his beard was because of a Super Bowl bet with teammate at the time, Tyler Seguin.

Benn chose the Seattle Seahawks against Seguin’s New England Patriots in the infamous Super Bowl XLIX (a.k.a. the “why wouldn’t you run the ball with the best power running back in the league” Super Bowl). Benn joined the massive list of people who were upset with Pete Carrol’s horrible play call at the end of that game. Here’s to hoping Benn doesn’t ever have to shave that magnificent beard again.
