Shortstop, High End Spend

Trea Turner, $4,000

.000/.000/.000 with 0 HR in 6 at-bats

Turner has starte to come out of his sluggish start to the season the past couple of weeks. He always carries an insanely high stolen base potential as the Pirates don’t always guard that facet of the game well. Turner is better against righty pitching and Bucs starter Jameson Taillon has been totally up and down this season. I wouldn’t target against him heavily but Turner can rack up points in a hurry. When there’s a player like Turner that won’t hit homers often, he better bring something else to the table. Turner could hit double digits in FanDuel points by stealing just two bases.

Also Consider – Trevor Story, $3,900

Mid-Range

Eduardo Nunez, $3,000

.267/.294/.333 with 0 HR in 15 at-bats

The shortstop for the Red Sox is in a quietly good spot tonight because he’s actually a reverse splits player in 2018. He’s getting almost all of his production against righty pitching and I don’t think Royals starter Jason Hammel is the guy that can flip that trend. It is fair to note he’s controlled righty bats so far this season with a .251 wOBA against. However, Nunez has produced an .816 OPS and a .356 wOBA against righties this seasoning Jason Hammel isn’t as good as he’s pitched so far. His HR/FB ratio is almost 10 percentage points lower than it has been during the last three seasons or so. That won’t keep up and the Red Sox might be the lineup that gets to him tonight.

Also Consider – Adeiny Hechavarria, $2,900

Value

Addison Russell, $2,400

.000/.000/.000 with 0 HR in 3 at-bats

If you find yourself dumpster diving at shortstop tonight, Russell could be interesting if Freeland pitches. The wind is a major factor on this slate and if it’s favoring hitters, cheap exposure is always a great idea. Russell is nothing to write home about against lefties with just a .708 OPS and a .316 wOBA but he can be productive if you pick the right spots for him. The price tag is truly the most appealing part apart Russell this evening and we’ll keep an eye on the weather through the day.

Also Consider – Scott Kingery, $2,600
