2018 NBA Mock Draft: Knicks go big with Mo Bamba
While Thon Maker’s reinsertion into the lineup and impressive production in the first round against Boston was the story for Milwaukee coming out of the series, Basketball-Reference efficiency metrics show Maker was a minus-1 per 100 possessions while Maker was on the court against the Celtics.
It’s true that Milwaukee looks better on both sides of the ball with Maker on the court than John Henson or Tyler Zeller, but Maker’s impact is more representative of the value a player like him could have for the Bucks rather than an indicator of his own value. Porter may not bring the defensive versatility Maker does, but on offense, he is exactly the piece the Bucks have been waiting for.
Porter shot 36 percent on over 100 attempts from distance this year at Missouri and added a 19.6 assist percentage. He is the perfect “center” for actions in which Giannis Antetokounmpo is setting screens and initiating sets for the Bucks.
The freshman was invited to the draft combine in May, and Sports Illustrated’s Jeremy Woo reported this week that he believes Porter hire an agent soon.
