FanDuel Lineup and Picks for Friday, May 4
Cubs at Cardinals
Cubs Probable Starter – Jose Quintana, LHP
5.74 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 7.76 K/9
Vs LHH – .200 average, .305 wOBA and 30.8 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .262 average, .341 wOBA and 39.7 hard contact rate
There’s not much of any other way to say it, Quintana has been flat awful this year. There were pretty big expectations considering what the Cubs gave up for him last season in a trade and having a full offseason with his new team. It hasn’t translated yet as he’s had exactly two good starts. His other three, he’s given up at least four earned runs. I’m not touching him until we see some better production out of him other than facing the Brewers. The Cardinals don’t rate well as a team against lefties but they have individual players that make a ton of sense.
Cardinals Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Jose Martinez, Jedd Gyorko, Tommy Pham
Secondary Options – Paul DeJong, Marcell Ozuna, Yadier Molina
Cardinals Probable Pitcher – Miles Mikolas, RHP
3.27 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 7.36 K/9
Vs LHH – .257 average, .305 wOBA and 41.1 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .203 average, .241 wOBA and 26.1 hard contact rate
Mikolas has been a pleasant surprise for the Cardinals so far this season but the rubber is going to meet the road tonight. Mikolas has been excellent his past three outings with a combined 21 innings and four earned runs across those starts. The strikeout ceiling is limited and he’s risky because the Cubs have a good offense. If there’s a reason to believe in Mikolas, Chicago has plenty of righties which Mikolas has been better at containing.
Cubs Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Anthony Rizzo, Kyle Schwarber
Secondary Options – Kris Bryant, Ben Zobrist
Home Run Pick – Jedd Gyorko
Dodgers at Padres
Dodgers Probable Starter – Walker Buehler , RHP
1.80 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 9.90 K/9
Vs LHH – .188 average, .197 wOBA and 20.0 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .304 average, .318 wOBA and 44.4 hard contact rate
There’s an awful lot of things to like about the young fireballer fro the Dodgers. He’s got good ratios pretty much across the board. The issue is you’re almost guaranteed to only get five innings from him, no matter what else is going on. He’s harder to roster if you don’t think you’ll get a quality start or a win. Buehler would have to strikeout a lot of hitters to give you the points you’re looking for.
Padres Hitters to Target
Elite Options – None
Secondary Options – Franchy Cordero, Eric Hosmer, Freddy Galvis, Jose Pirela, Christian Villanueva
Padres Probable Starter – Joey Lucchesi, LHP
2.78 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 9.74 K/9
Vs LHH – .233 average, .249 wOBA and 26.3 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .211 average, .286 wOBA and 42.2 hard contact rate
The Dodgers aren’t quite as dangerous as we assumed they would be on offense as they’ve lost Corey Seager and Justin Turner. Lucchesi has had couple bumps in the road but he’s also had a couple of 50+ point performances. Even though he’s the fifth most expensive pitcher on the board, $8,600 is a fair price and he’s in the running as a tournament option tonight.
Dodger Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Kike Hernandez
Secondary Options – Yasmani Grandal, Cody Bellinger
Home Run Pick – Eric Hosmer
