Tigers at Rangers

Tigers Probable Starter – Michael Fulmer, RHP

2.80 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 6.88 K/9

Vs LHH – .270 average, .355 wOBA and 32.8 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .258 average, .279 wOBA and 25.0 hard contact rate

Fulmer really isn’t a pitcher we want to use in daily with his lack of strikeouts  but he’s also a pitcher that can frustrate an offense. The Rangers have been a little bit inconsistent but there are bats to target tonight. Joey Gallo has to be considered at his very fair price of just $3,500. He’s cut down on his strikeouts a bit and has just as much power as anyone in the game. Fulmer has his issues with lefties and Gallo is at home. Shin-soo Choo and Nomar Mazara are also great targets at their price point.

Rangers Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Joey Gallo, Nomar Mazara and Shin-soo Choo

Secondary Options – Delino DeShields

Rangers Probable Starter – Matt Moore, LHP

7.67 ERA, 1.91 WHIP and 5.52 K/9

Vs LHH –  .381 average, .423 wOBA and 58.8 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .330 average, .405 wOBA and 47.8 hard contact rate

Well, we’ve arrived at what should be the most popular stack of the night on this seven game slate. The Tigers are good enough against lefties regardless, but Moore isn’t fooling anyone right now. He’s getting waxed every time out and Detroit should be able to take advantage of it. I really hope Nicholas Castellanos is back in the lineup as he would be one of the top plays on the slate. Jeimer Candelario is in the same boat but his thumb injury is reportedly minor. One of the under the radar plays might end up being Leonys Martin. Many players tend to shy away from a lefty/lefty matchup but Moore can’t get anyone out right now.

Tigers Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Nicholas Castellanos, Jeimer Candelario, Leonys Martin, James McCann

Secondary Options – JaCoby Jones, Dixon Machado

Home Run Pick – Joey Gallo and since he seems like the easy way out, Leonys Martin

Marlins at Cubs

Marlins Probable Starter – Jarlin Garcia, RHP

1.09 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 6.27 K/9

Vs LHH – .095 average, .182 wOBA and 23.1 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .144 average, .214 wOBA and 38.7 hard contact rate

This could finally be the day that the Garcia mirage comes crashing down. He’s not nearly as good as his metrics this year would suggest and one thing that has to change soon is his strand rate. It’s at 95.2 percent which means virtually no base runner has come around to score. If he’s not striking too many batters out and giving up that much hard contact to righties, he’s going to give up runs. The Cubs have the offensive prowess to knock Garcia around. I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the splits from this season. In 2017, Garcia was more vulnerable against righty bats.

Cubs Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Kris Bryant, Kyle Schwarber

Secondary Options – Anthony Rizzo, Willson Contreras

Cubs Probable Starter – Kyle Hendricks, RHP

3.19 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 7.12 K/9

Vs LHH – .214 average, .352 wOBA and 25.6 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .226 average, .270 wOBA and 30.9 hard contact rate

Hendricks is a little interesting tonight even though he doesn’t have a ton of strikeout upside. The Marlins have the lowest ISO in baseball against righties and Hendricks limits hard contact to both handedness of batters. If you wanted to take a stab at J.T. Realmuto or Justin Bour, they can leave the yard against anyone. They’re also not exactly cheap. I don’t think I’ll attack Hendricks that much, if at all. He should be able to at least get a quality start and possibly a win.

Marlins Hitters to Target

Elite Options – None

Secondary Options – J.T. Realmuto, Justin Bour, Derek Dietrich

Home Run Pick – Kyle Schwarber
