Top 5 wide receivers to watch for the 2019 NFL Draft

Taking a wide receiver early in the draft is risky business, but these five wideouts will make NFL executives think twice when the 2019 NFL Draft begins.

Drafting a wide receiver early in the draft can be risky business. With that being said, the talented group of wideouts set to enter the 2019 NFL Draft are going to cause some NFL executives to rethink that philosophy.

Only two wide receivers managed to break into round one this season, but next year things could be different. The diverse group of receivers in the 2019 class will spark a lot of debate around the league. The truth is it’s going to be a matter of taste. There’s something for everyone in this group of pass catchers.

5. Ahmonn Richards – Miami

Richards is much more prospect than player at this point in his career. After setting several freshman records as a receiver at Miami, his career has been hampered with injuries. If he can stay healthy for the 2018 campaign, he’s got the natural ability to rocket up draft boards.

Specifically, Richards is a receiver who can rip the top off of an NFL secondary. He may not have caught a ton of balls last season for the ‘Canes, but he averaged over 18 yards per reception. You’d like to see more consistency out of Richards, but his talent is undeniable.

Richards has to find a way to turn more of his upside into production this season. In terms of God-given ability, he might be the top receiver in his class. It will be up to him to show all of his skills this season in ACC play. If he does, he’s going to really impress NFL scouts. If he doesn’t have a good season, he may need to stay in school for another year.
