Each MLB team’s current Hall of Famer
Toronto Blue Jays: Vladimir Guerrero, Jr.
Another minor league player, but one with a much more familiar name, with a father who recently himself was elected to the MLB Hall of Fame. Junior tantalized Blue Jays fans this spring with a batting practice display during an exhibition game in Montreal near the end of spring training, and then he crushed a walk-off home run to end the game and electrify the Canadian crowd.
Vlad Jr. played last season at 18 years old in his first full season, opening the year with Lansing and then moving to high-A Dunedin for the final 48 games of the season. He simply led all of minor league baseball in on-base percentage (.425) in 2017. He’s opened the year this year with AA New Hampshire even better, currently slashing .388/.455/.600 with more walks than strikeouts.
Guerrero may end up moving off of third base where he’s playing right now, but his bat will play at any position at an absolutely elite level. He’s not built like his father, with a thicker lower half, but he’s still surprisingly athletic in spite of his thick build, which should lead to a long career bashing balls.
