DraftKings fantasy golf picks: THE PLAYERS Championship 2018
Lineups
As always, we’ll present a couple of lineups using popular strategies for building and then I’ll come around with what I feel to be the ideal lineup. Let’s get this party rolling with a look at the stars and scrubs for THE PLAYERS Championship.
Stars and Scrubs
Jason Day ($11,400)
Dustin Johnson ($10,300)
Adam Hadwin ($7,300)
Webb Simpson ($7,300)
Alexander Levy ($7,000)
Rory Sabbatini ($6,700)
There is most definitely upside with the value players that comprise the bottom portion of this lineup, which is what you want here. Taking a flyer on Levy may not make people feel the most comfortable, but sometimes that’s the type of thing you have to do if you want to have two obvious winner contenders like Day and Johnson in your lineup.
Mid-Tier Loadup
Jon Rahm ($9,300)
Patrick Reed ($8,700)
Phil Mickelson ($8,400)
Bryson DeChambeau ($8,300)
Cameron Smith ($7,600)
Tony Finau ($7,500)
This lineup leaves $200 in salary to play with if you prefer to do that, but I love this lineup and it’s going to end up being pretty close to my ideal lineup. You’re looking here at six guys who have the talent to win THE PLAYERS and six guys who have been playing pretty well as of late. This is all about value and upside on the middle tiers and there is a ton of it with this particular DraftKings lineup.

My Ideal Lineup
Dustin Johnson ($10,300)
Patrick Reed ($8,700)
Phil Mickelson ($8,400)
Cameron Smith ($7,600)
Tony Finau ($7,500)
Webb Simpson ($7,300)
As you can see, this lineup is somewhat of a homogenous blend of the two previously mentioned lineups, and I like it a lot. The value of Johnson as the lowest-priced upper-tier players is too great for me to pass up and I have a real belief in both Mickelson and Smith to show up big this weekend. The rest of it is steady players with upside, ultimately giving you the lineup you want to win with.
