In an announcement that surprises no one, the hit YouTube Red original series, Cobra Kai, has been renewed for a second season.

Let’s be honest here. No one expected Cobra Kai to be as good as it really is. In fact, when it was initially announced, we figured it was going to tank like many other remakes and revivals. We simply thought it was unnecessary to create another story/continuation based on a classic film.

After seeing it, we can admit we were very wrong. The series is fantastic and now, we can’t wait for more. Thanks to all of the positive feedback from fans everywhere, we’re getting a second season.

Our excitement is through the roof. At the same time, this was expected.

Not only is the series great, but the ending leaves it completely open for it to continue. Obvious spoilers ahead, but in the Season 1 finale, we see the return of John Kreese. In The Karate Kid, Kreese was the malicious and evil sensei of the Cobra Kai dojo. We figure Johnny Lawrence wants nothing to do with him anymore, but we aren’t sure where this next season will take the story.

Being that it’s a series now, the story can go in so many directions. Obviously, the main storyline is the Johnny vs. Daniel LaRusso arc. But, there’s many other directions to go. For example, not only is the new Cobra Kai dojo thriving, but Daniel also seems to be opening his own dojo to honor Mr. Miyagi. Miguel, Samantha, and Robby also have some interesting stories.

We never would’ve thought this series would be as successful as it is. Most of the revivals and remakes don’t work. Thankfully, this one does in almost every way. Season 2 should be great and we can’t wait to see what happens next.

Cobra Kai Season 2 is coming in 2019.
