3. Daniel Winnik

Huge question marks linger around the Minnesota Wild in the coming offseason. Another early-round exit to the Winnipeg Jets has fans wondering whether or not the Wild have the right core and depth players in place.

It could be a summer of selling for the Wild, and a rebuild might ensue. Teams will scramble for the big guns if they are available, but the Coyotes should look into bringing back an old friend.

Ever since being drafted by the Coyotes in 2004, Winnik has literally been everywhere for a variety of NHL clubs. What’s interesting about the 33-year-old is that no matter where he ends up, he always finds a way to contribute.

Winnik has had some issues with failing to play at least 70 games at times throughout the course of his journey, but he’s made up for it by being near the 20-point mark every year.

The Canadian can play left wing or center, which leaves a perfect amount of options for Rick Tocchet in terms of depth shifting.

It really looks like Winnik will be packing his bags again. The Wild need to get younger in a lot of areas, and Winnik obviously isn’t the answer there.

A absolute perfect depth player that can likely play anything for the offense of the Coyotes. A cap hit last season of near $700,000 is cheap money, and a businessman in Chayka needs to take advantage of this.

Playoff experience, an all-around depth option, a cheap player; there’s really nothing else that needs to be said. The Coyotes can really hit a home run if they chase Winnik, but don’t be surprised if other teams are in the mix for his signature as well.
