OAKLAND, CA – APRIL 16: Kevin Durant #35 of the Golden State Warriors reacts after he made a three-point basket against the San Antonio Spurs during Game 2 of Round 1 of the 2018 NBA Playoffs at ORACLE Arena on April 16, 2018 in Oakland, California. (Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images) /

Kevin Durant

Yes, another member of the Golden State Warriors. I can’t help it that they’ve assembled a team full of annoying and unlikeable players.

In Durant’s case, he chose to be this annoying and unlikeable. He used to be the most beloved player in the league. That all changed on July 4, 2016 when he left Oklahoma City for Golden State.

In the nearly two years since joining the Warriors, he’s done even more damage to his once flawless reputation.

He claimed joining the Warriors was “the toughest path” even though he was joining a 73-win team. He continued to take shots at his former team. He sounds like a jilted lover anytime someone brings up Oklahoma City, even though he’s the one who left. He admitted to having a Twitter burner account, where he continued to take shots at his former team. He doesn’t know how to use social media. He hates blogs.

Many blame Durant for ruining the NBA in 2016-17. Once he joined the Warriors, nothing mattered. Everyone knew the Warriors would win the NBA title. They did, going 16-1 in the playoffs. He shifted the competitive balance in the league in the favor of the team who was already at the top.

Obviously, Warriors fans love Durant. They love everyone on their team. And they can’t understand why you don’t love everyone on their team. Neither can Durant. He can’t understand how you could possibly dislike him. He’s the second best player in the league. Why are you not bowing at his feet?

Because that would be too easy, Kevin. And you took the hardest path.
