4. Get Kyle Korver more shots

One of the most interesting subplots of Game 1 was just how hard Boston worked to take Kyle Korver out of the game. They did so by repeatedly targeting him on the defensive end of the floor. If Cleveland is going to at least neutralize that match up, they need to make sure he does a lot of damage on the offensive end.

Korver only got up six shots in his 23 minutes of action in Game 1. That isn’t a terrible output on the surface, but it allowed Boston to take him out of the game due to his defensive deficiencies. He’s too important to Cleveland’s offense to let that happen again in Game 2.

The unfortunate truth is that Cleveland is really powerless to do much to help him defensively. He works hard, but he’s too limited athletically to really bother Boston’s uber-athletic wings. They can try to give him a bit more help, but he’s going to remain a minus on that end of the floor.

That leaves Lue’s only recourse to make sure Korver’s offensive usage takes a significant step up. The Cavaliers can make tactical adjustments to make sure he gets in a better offensive rhythm in Game 2. Cleveland needs to run Korver off screens early and often to make sure he gets plenty of three-pointers off early against Boston’s defense in Game 2.
