KANSAS CITY, MO – APRIL 13: Kansas City Royals Catcher Salvador Perez (13) waves to fans in the stands during warmups before the MLB regular season game between the Kansas City Royals and the Los Angeles Angels on Friday April 13th, 2018 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, MO. Rays at Royals

Rays Probable Starter – Anthony Banda, LHP

2018 Debut

With the mix of Banda making his debut for the season and the game being in a pitcher’s park, my interest will be relatively limited. Just like yesterday, I want the lefty killers from Kansas City and that’s about it. Whit Merrifield and Jorge Soler are both fairly priced and have a wOBA over .450 against southpaws so far this season.

Royals Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Whit Merrifield, Jorge Soler

Secondary Options – Salvador Perez, Alex Gordon

Royals Probable Starter – Ian Kennedy

4.61 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 8.56 K/9

Vs LHH – .269 average, .319 wOBA, 41.1 fly ball rate and 38.6 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .293 average, .370 wOBA, 37.0 fly ball rate and 43.2 hard contact rate

Kennedy go ripped up his last time on the bump, giving up nine earned runs to Baltimore. He’ll probably be better than that tonight but the Rays offense still could put up some runs. I’m not about to go crazy here since Tampa isn’t a dominant offense but players like Matt Duffy and Wilson Ramos are interesting. The issue with Duffy is he’s more expensive than Justin Turner. It’s hard to play Duffy instead of Turner in anything other than tournaments.

Rays Hitters to Target

Elite Options – None

Secondary Options – Matt Duffy, Wilson Ramos, C.J. Cron, Denard Span

Home Run Pick – Salvador Perez

Brewers at Diamondbacks

Brewers Probable Starter – Jhoulys Chacin, RHP

4.00 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 5.80 K/9

Vs LHH – .299 average, .384 wOBA, 30.9 fly ball rate and 39.4 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .212 average, .280 wOBA, 41.3 fly ball rate and 43.4 hard contact rate

I really wish Chacin would strike more players out because he’s not in the worst spot ever tonight. Arizona might be without A.J. Pollock this evening as he’s being evaluated for a thumb injury. If he’s out, the Diamondback lineup is really not all that great, especially since Paul Goldschmidt has been scuffling so bad. The only two hitters I want to take a stab at here are Daniel Descalso and David Peralta. Descalso is very cheap and Peralta is just good against righty pitching with a .411 wOBA against them this season. I think most cash lineups will have either Descalso or Justin Turner at the third bas position tonight.

Diamondbacks Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Daniel Descalso, David Peralta

Secondary Options – Paul Goldschmidt, Alex Avila and A.J. Pollock if they play

Diamondbacks Probable Starter – Zack Grienke, RHP

3.70 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 9.80 K/9

Vs LHH – .247 average, .312 wOBA, 35.0 fly ball rate and 41.7 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .226 average, .276 wOBA, 39.2 fly ball rate and 41.9 hard contact rate

I think we may have arrived at my favorite pitcher for cash games on the evening. Grienke is priced under $10,000 and is going to face a righty heavy lineup that strikes out at the sixth highest rate against righties in baseball. Christian Yelich and Travis Shaw are the only lefties that could do a ton of damage and Milwaukee might be without Ryan Braun again tonight. Grienke’s strikeouts have been a bit inconsistent on a per game basis but he kind of feels like one of the safer plays on the board, even if a monster game isn’t within reach.

Brewers Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Christian Yelich(only $3,000)

Secondary Options – Travis Shaw

Home Run Pick – Daniel Descalso
