Astros at Angels

Astros Probable Starter – Gerrit Cole, RHP

1.43 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and 13.66 K/9

Vs LHH – .163 average, .212 wOBA, 46.5 fly ball rate and 29.5 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .147 average, .207 wOBA, 44.4 fly ball rate and 37.5 hard contact rate

This side of the game is very easy to break down. Cole has been the best pitcher in baseball not named Max Scherzer so far this year and he deserves to be as expensive as he is. As much as Cole is one of my favorites, I can’t pay that much given he’s on the road and the Angels are a good offense against righty pitching. Don’t be surprised if Cole throws a gem. I just don’t think it’s totally locked in and there’s enough risk to not pay $11,800. The Angels stack would likely be the lowest owned of any team and if Cole happens to have a bad start, you’d be in great shape.

Angels Hitters to Target

Elite Options – None

Secondary Options – Mike Trout

Angels Probable Starter – Jamie Barria, RHP

2.45 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 6.38 K/9

Vs LHH – .184 average, .219 wOBA, 31.3 fly ball rate and 28.1 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .258 average, .336 wOBA, 37.5 fly ball rate and 33.3 hard contact rate

It might seem weird that I’m not all that interested in the Astros offense against a no name pitcher with a limited track record, but Barria hasn’t been terrible so far in 2018. Sure, he’s likely not this good but all the Astros are priced at their standard premium. It seems like it could be difficult to parse which one of their studs will have a solid game, so picking a one off play might not be worth it. If I had to pick one player, it’s likely Josh Reddick. He’s down at $2,700 and that’s extremely reasonable for the matchup. I think you either stck the Astros or you should just avoid this game entirely.

Astros Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Carlos Correa, Alex Bregman, Josh Reddick

Secondary Options – Jose Altuve, George Springer

Home Run Pick – Alex Bregman

Rangers at Mariners

Rangers Probable Starter – Mike Minor, LHP

4.73 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 7.20 K/9

Vs LHH – .191 average, .230 wOBA, 15.4 fly ball rate and 50.0 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .263 average, .367 wOBA, 45.3 fly ball rate and 40.7 hard contact rate

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if this game had the highest run total of the night. Neither starting pitcher should be in consideration at all and there’s plenty of Mariners bats to be interested in. Dee Gordon could steal some bases if he gets on but he seism hair too expensive. Any righty bat for Seattle is in play and the top two are Mitch Haniger and Nelson Cruz. Ryon Healy is basically tied with Haniger for the top spot on the Mariners for wOBA against righties and it’s hard to argue playing him. Jean Segura is expensive but has immense stolen base upside and run potential tonight.

Mariners Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Mitch Haniger, Nelson Cruz, Ryon Healy, Jean Segura

Secondary Options – Dee Gordon, Mike Zunino(elite GPP option)

Mariners Probable Starter – Mike Leake, RHP

5.72 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 6.31 K/9

Vs LHH – .287 average, .346 wOBA, 35.8 fly ball rate and 35.8 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .292 average, .388 wOBA, 35.7 fly ball rate and 41.4 hard contact rate

Even with the built in danger of getting a zero in a good matchup, Joey Gallo is just in a smash spot tonight that he should be able to take advantage of. He’s all the way down at $3,100 which is cheap considering he can leave the yard twice. Gallo is due for a home run and I really believe he gets one tonight. Rougned Odor is also a risk reward play but he’s super cheap at just $2,200. Leake has been so bad this year I can’t talk you out of any Rangers hitter you want to play tonight.

Rangers Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Joey Gallo, Shin-soo Choo, Nomar Mazara

Secondary Options – Rougned Odor, Adrian Beltre if he plays

Home Run Pick – Nelson Cruz
