Reds at Giants

Reds Probable Starter – Tyler Mahle, RHP

3.86 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 8.93 K/9

Vs LHH – .253 average, .375 wOBA, 43.1 fly ball rate and 44.1 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .230 average, .278 wOBA, 35.9 fly ball rate and 29.8 hard contact rate

Mahle hasn’t been that useful for fantasy the past two starts but he’s actually having a pretty decent season. He’s weaker against lefty bats and the only one that’s in the Giants lineup that’s scary is Brandon Belt. In AT&T Park, the higher fly ball rate might not come back to bite him like it would when he pitches at home. Mhale is a great GPP play tonight because he’s going to go overlooked. Even though the Giants scored some runs last night, their offense just isn’t all that good.

Giants Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Brandon Belt

Secondary Options – Andrew McCutchen, Buster Posey, Brandon Crawford

Giants Probable Starter – Ty Blach , LHP

4.20 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 4.56 K/9

Vs LHH – .259 average, .284 wOBA, 13.6 fly ball rate and 30.4 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .282 average, .327 wOBA, 22.3 fly ball rate and 36.8 hard contact rate

Given how many ground balls Blach generates, I have virtually no interest in any Reds hitters tonight. Joey Votto had to leave last night’s game with back tightness and would be risky. Adam Duvall is about the only other one I could get on board with just due to his price point. I’m definitely not paying $4,000 for Eugenio Suarez in this matchup. It’s that last game of the night and about the only player that really is worth anything is Tyler Mahle.

Reds Hitters to Target

Elite Options – None

Secondary Options – Adam Duvall, Joey Votto

Home Run Pick – Adam Duvall

Sample Lineup

P – Masahiro Tanaka

C/1B – Niko Goodrum

2B – Yoan Moncada

3B – Justin Turner

SS – Amed Rosario

OF – JaCoby Jones, Mookie Betts, Nelson Cruz

Utility – Mitch Haniger

I think it’s sort of a toss up between Tanaka and Greinke for cash games so I’ll take the one that gives me $1,200 more to build my offense. We pull a mini stack of Tigers against Josh “Gas Can” Tomlin and then we also take a pair of returning stars from the DL. Both Moncada and Turner would obviously be more expensive if they were fully healthy.  Rosario is aunt option to make things work and then we’ll take Betts who is always a great play and polish things off with a Mariners mini stack.

Stacks To Consider – Red Sox(vs Oakland), Phillies(at Baltimore), Dodgers(at Miami), Tigers(vs Cleveland), Astros(at Los Angeles) and Rangers or Mariners
