Jennie-Lee Burmansson took bronze in slopestyle at X Games Aspen in January. Will the Swedish skier compete in big air at X Games Norway on Saturday?

Swedish freestyle skier Jennie-Lee Burmansson is best known as a slopestyle specialist. Just 15 years old, Burmansson made her professional debut on the World Cup circuit this season. In her rookie season, she already has a bronze medal in slopestyle from X Games Aspen in January.

Burmansson also competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. She is the youngest Olympic athlete in Sweden’s history. On the course in South Korea, the young Swedish skier qualified among the top dozen women in slopestyle. In the finals, she was up in the top five for a short period after her second jump. Ultimately, Burmansson finished off the podium in eighth.

The teenager has now been invited to showcase her skills closer to home. Though she is better known as a slopestyle star, Burmansson is among eight women set to take to the ramp for the big air competition at X Games Norway. The field is far smaller than the men slated to take to the big air jump. But while there are fewer women competing, the quality of the field is unquestionable.

The host country will have two competitors in the event. Norwegian skiers Tiril Sjaastad Christiansen and Johanne Killi are both set to participate. Swiss stars Giulia Tanno and Sarah Hoefflin and Slovakia’s Zuzana Stromkova round out the field of Europeans. From the other side of the Atlantic, American star Maggie Voisin and Chilean skier Dominique Ohaco will also compete.

Next: When is X Games Norway 2018?

Burmansson’s participation is not in question, as the Swede has every plan to take to the air in Oslo. She will represent her entire country as the only Swedish skier in the women’s field. The eight women competing at X Games Norway will launch into the Oslo air on May 19.
