5 reasons Browns fans should be excited for the 2018 season
3. Healthy Myles Garrett
Myles Garrett, the defensive wrecking machine out of Texas A&M, spent a significant chunk of his rookie season on the sideline dealing with nagging injuries.
The former No. 1 pick of the 2017 NFL Draft was brought in to be the cornerstone of the Browns defense. As an organization that failed to instill fear into opposing quarterbacks, the Browns needed a rough rider to not only set the edge up front, but they also needed a leader with the kind of fearless bravado necessary to help change the losing culture.
Garrett showed signs of being that player last season. Despite only appearing in nine games, he finished the year with 31 tackles, seven sacks and a forced fumble.
There is hope he’ll be able to build on that rookie season in 2018 and bring some level of respectability back to the Browns defense. Browns head coach Hue Jackson is thoroughly convinced the best is yet to come for the two-time first-team All-American.
"“I think the sky’s the limit for Myles,” Jackson said, via the Browns official website. “I don’t want to say what the number [of sacks] will be or anything like that, but I just think he has to take in everything he learned this past year, have a great offseason, stay healthy and then head into the offseason program ready to go. I think Myles is going to be one of the better pass rushers in this league. I still feel that. I see it, and it is just a matter of how that is going to happen and how that is going to unfold.”"
A healthy Garrett is capable of terrorizing quarterbacks and delivering sack lunches on a weekly basis.
He promised change was coming to the city of Cleveland after he was drafted by the Browns. The kind of change he was referring to could literally be a few months away.
