2. A new offensive identity

Whether it’s Mayfield or Taylor stepping in behind center, the Browns are going to have plenty of opportunities to put pressure on defenses with the drastically improved receiving corps.

It all starts with former NFL receiving yards leader, Josh Gordon, who is toeing the line between human and superhuman.

Football rust doesn’t exist as far as the former first-team All-Pro wideout is concerned. When he finally returned to the field last season, he looked every bit as dominant the player he was when he left in 2014.

He has long carried the burden of being the only standout offensive player for the Browns, which made him a prime candidate for defensive double teams. To his credit, teams still failed to stop him even when putting an extra defender on him.

Adding to the difficulty, he was doing all of this while catching passes from a revolving door of C-list quarterbacks.

Imagine how much his talent would be magnified if defenses could no longer devote all of their attention towards him. What if there was another Pro Bowl receiver on the field to force man-on-man situations?

Browns fans won’t have to imagine in 2018 when Gordon shares the field with former Miami Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry for the first time.

Landry, a three-time Pro Bowler, adds another dynamic presence for defenses to contend with in the passing attack. Good luck with drawing up defensive schemes to keep those two contained. There is also hope for a second-year breakout from tight end David Njoku.

Gordon, Landry, Njoku and wideout Corey Coleman is more than enough firepower for the right quarterback to do some serious damage on offense.
