“I still can’t believe it,” Hoefler said after the competition.

RUN 1

Eaton scared the crowd when a nasty fall in his nearly perfect first run saw the newcomer slow to get up, but a massive 88 score made up for the pain as he jumped into second place after the first run. Hoefler took first with 93.22 after the first round.

RUN 2

In the second run tensions were higher, those who had scored low in round 1 were hoping to do better for a chance at a podium spot. Eaton hung on to the second place spot with his run from his first try after a lackluster second run. Hoefler extended his first-place lead with a 94.33 score in the second run.

RUN 3

The final run of the day was do or die for Eaton, who needed to best  Hoefler’s 94.33 score in order to take his first gold medal as a pro. Unfortunately, Eaton fell in his final run guaranteeing Hoefler a gold medal regardless of his final score.
