The New York Giants are hoping that the addition of Saquon Barkley is a huge boost to their offense. So far, the early returns are promising.

If the Giants are going to compete in the tough NFC East, they need Saquon Barkley to hit the ground running. Literally. Barkley, who was the controversial second-overall pick over quarterbacks such as Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen and Josh Allen, will join an offense already populated by Eli Manning, Evan Engram, Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard.

Already, Barkley appears to be emulating one of his co-stars. In this video, the former Penn State star looks an awful lot like Beckham, snagging passes with one hand. Obviously, doing this in a  non-contact OTA is a bit different than getting the job done come September, but it does display a ridiculous skill set.

While starring for the Nittany Lions, Barkley caught 102 passes over three seasons, with the totals increasing each campaign. In 2017, Barkley had 54 receptions for 632 yards and three touchdowns, providing a versatile weapon out of the backfield.

New York finished 3-13 last season, but there is reason to believe that a quick turnaround is in store. For starters, the Giants fired head coach Ben McAdoo and replaced him with Pat Shurmur, one of the better offensive minds in the game. He should be able to take advantage of the mismatches at his disposal far better than McAdoo, who in two seasons never guided his team to a 30-point output.

The Giants will be tested early in the season, though, with games against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons to start. Five of those teams reached the playoffs, while Dallas won nine games and Houston was a likely postseason participant before being ravaged by injuries.
