Oakland Raiders: Did the Raiders add enough to win the AFC West?

Coming off a 12-4 season in 2016, some experts liked the Oakland Raiders to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. However, the 2017 campaign was an absolute disaster, and by the time the dust settled, the organization had fired the entire Raiders coaching staff.

With Jack Del Rio fired, the franchise turned to a familiar face to lead them for the next  ten seasons. That face belongs to Jon Gruden, who led this team to the playoffs in his last stint, before moving on to Tampa Bay and beating his former team in the Super Bowl the following season.

Along with Gruden, the Raiders also spent the offseason completely changing up their roster. Sure, guys like Khalil Mack, Bruce Irvin, Amari Cooper, and Derek Carr are still there, but they have turned around mostly every position group this offseason, trying to build a new culture in the building.

The problem is, the Raiders did not have a lot of cap space, and could not go after the big-name free agents. General manager Reggie McKenzie worked some magic, getting wide receiver Jordy Nelson and cornerback Rashaan Melvin to name a few, and both should have a serious impact on how good this Raiders team will be in 2018.

During the 2018 NFL Draft, the Raiders also swung for the fences with a lot of their picks, taking players who have a high ceiling, but also a low floor. They have a lot of young talent on this roster, but after a 6-10 season in 2017, did they really do enough to challenge in a very tough AFC West this season?
