Philadelphia Eagles: Will Carson Wentz be back for Week 1?

The Philadelphia Eagles shocked the world when they beat the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl, as they did it with a backup quarterback under center. The problem for the Patriots was Nick Foles played nothing like a backup, winning Super Bowl MVP honors, and picking apart their defense like he was playing a video game.

During Week 14 of the NFL season, the Eagles looked to be the best team in the NFC. They were absolutely rolling when they headed across the country to play the Los Angeles Rams, and quarterback Carson Wentz looked to be on pace to win his first MVP award.

However, Wentz ended up blowing out his knee against the Rams, which forced the Eagles to make the move to Foles for the rest of the season. Nobody really gave the Eagles a chance without Wentz, but Foles ended up playing out of his mind, leading the Eagles to their first Super Bowl title in team history.

With the injury occurring in December, it is not a sure thing that Wentz will be back for Week 1 of the NFL season. He did some pretty serious damage to his knee, and with Foles under contract, does it really make sense for the team to bring him back before his is completely ready to lead this team?

Wentz has stated that his goal is to be back for Week 1, and it will be interesting to see what the organization does in this case. He is a player who could lead them to multiple titles during his career, so it does not make much sense to bring him back so soon after a horrible knee injury, and risk him turning it into a career-threatening injury, as we have seen happen in the past.
