4. Montreal Canadiens

Nothing much has really changed in Montreal except for the indelible decline that most knew was on the horizon. A joke that the Habs relied too much on Carey Price turned into reality and decline came rapidly.

Yet, there’s still the same high-flying and fun to watch hockey from the Canadiens that still delivers a lot of revenue for the league. Even after P.K. Subban and Michel Therrien departed, Montreal found a way with Shea Weber and Claude Julien to keep things exciting.

The Habs need to accept the fact that the playoffs might not be a regular occurrence for a while and start on with a rebuild. To keep things exciting for fans to enjoy on the ice while development is done elsewhere, however, is where Green can come into play.

Montreal needs more scoring. In fact, the team was only above the Buffalo Sabres and the Arizona Coyotes in goals for this past season, with 209. A depth defenseman would also be a plus on the squad to relieve pressure of the top players such as Weber.

They say it’s best to kill two birds with one stone, and that’s what Montreal could do if it considers Green. Veteran experience from the former Edmonton Ice defender could help some of the younger defenders learn the craft of aggressive, but exhilarating style of defending that both Green and the Canadiens share.

It’s worth a look from both parties, but don’t be surprised if Green has other priorities.
