2018 NBA Mock Draft: What’s in store for the second round?

Here’s a comparison Minnesota fans would love to hear if they have their eyes on Melton as a potential Thibodeauian piece for this team: Melton’s measurements this week are reminiscent of Terry Rozier’s in 2015. With how well Rozier is playing this spring and how similar the two players are stylistically, one wonders whether that comparison might influence NBA teams at the draft.

Melton of course missed the entire NCAA season because of questions about his involvement in the pay-for-play scandal the FBI investigated this year at USC. Near the beginning of the spring semester, Melton left school to focus full-time on the draft. If he flashes the two-way potential that made him so exciting as a second-year player at this week’s combine and in individual workouts, he could easily be picked this high. HIs talent suggests he should be.

The sophomore played in the first of four scrimmages at the combine Thursday, scoring just two points on 1-3 shooting. He did, however, fill up the rest of the stat sheet, nabbing seven rebounds to go along with two assists, two steals and a block in just 14 minutes.

That kind of all-around potential should interest the Timberwolves, who need talented bench players in a bad way.
