23. Maryland (Red)

In today’s college football, many clothing companies like Nike, Under Armour and Adidas are creating simple templates for uniforms and tweaking the colors to fit each team. Therefore resulting in many of the uniforms around the country looking similar. However, if there’s one generic templated uniform in the country that stands out, it belongs to the Maryland Terrapins.

Very seldom does a team’s uniform reflect the state in which they are based — other than the occasional color scheme. Over the years, multiple teams have created state-themed alternate uniforms. It’s no secret that the University of Maryland is the state’s flagship university and they embrace it like no other. For this reason, the Terrapins find themselves on this list. Not only is it insanely cool to have a college represent its home state in this way, the jerseys look amazing. In addition, it never hurts to have one of the coolest state flags in the United States to work with.

The red Terrapins uniforms scream Maryland from first glance. The base red is complemented by a yellow accent appearing throughout the jersey. The word Maryland, the Under Armour logo and the Big Ten logo appear in yellow, as well as the outline of the number and a part of the state flag on the shoulder. The other two colors are seen in the flag (black and white) also show up on the uniform. The white shows up on the numbering and the black outlines the number and appears above the flag pattern on the shoulder. It’s commonplace for teams to have different shoulder designs, but Maryland’s red uniform shoulder design is up there with the best of them.
