Blue Jays at Red Sox

Blue Jays Probable Starter – Marco Estrada, RHP

5.40 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 17.3 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .255 average, .361 wOBA, 52.1 fly ball rate and 30.1 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .302 average, .387 wOBA, 55.7 fly ball rate and 35.9 hard contact rate

The Red Sox scored eight runs yesterday and there’s potential for the result to be worse tonight. Estrada has been bleeding runs for most of the season and I don’t think we need to be super picky with the Boston offense in this spot. I’d likely lean towards J.D. Martinez as the top overall Boston hitter, followed by Mitch Moreland. Mookie Betts should be back in the lineup but a side injury gets me a little skittish for cash games and he’s $5,500. Andrew Benintendi is swinging a super hot bat right now and scored us over 40 yesterday if you want to go back to the well. Even in GPP formats, Estrada is a terrifying play.

Red Sox Hitters to Target

Elite Options – J.D. Martinez, Mitch Moreland, Mookie Betts(GPP), Andrew Benintendi

Secondary Options – Dustin Pedroia, Jackie Bradley Jr.

Red Sox Probable Starter – Rick Porcello, RHP

3.74 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 23.2 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .231 average, .311 wOBA, 45.7 fly ball rate and 37.8 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .253 average, .263 wOBA, 23.3 fly ball rate and 20.7 hard contact rate

Porcello has hit the skids these past few starts, scoring under 20 points in three of his last four starts. The strikeouts have disappeared in the bad starts and the one way to attack him has always been lefty power hitters, even when things were going well. I don’t play right handed batters against Porcello so that narrows down the player pool. Curtis Granderson is a solid option at just $2,900 because he has the power to leave the yard. If you need to save the $400, Dwight Smith Jr is perfectly fine as well. The last bat I’d have any interest in is Yangervis Solarte. I expect Porcello to right the ship slightly but be nothing more than average tonight.

Elite Options – Curtis Granderson, Dwight Smith Jr, Yangervis Solarte

Secondary Options – Justin Smoak

Home Run Pick – J.D. Martinez and Dwight Smith Jr.

Angels at Tigers

Angels Probable Starter – Nick Tropeano, RHP

3.86 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 20.1 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .286 average, .322 wOBA, 32.1 fly ball rate and 42.9 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .181 average, .313 wOBA, 53.7 fly ball rate and 40.7 hard contact rate

Tropeano has been a little up and down so far this season and that certainly makes him tough to trust tonight. The flip side of that is Detroit is a good bit worse against righty pitching than lefties. I wouldn’t be surprised by any means if Tropeano has a good game. There’s just so many of the mid-teir pitchers that are more interesting, it’s tough to land on Tropeano. The hitters from Detroit that stand out are pretty much the same as they are every game – Nicholas Castellanos and Jeimer Candelario. Leonys Martin is always in play against righty pitching and Tropeano happens to struggle more with lefty hitters.

Tigers Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Leonys Martin, Jeimer Candelario

Secondary Options – Nicholas Castellanos

Tigers Probable Starter – Michael Fulmer, RHP

4.08 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 21.2 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .239 average, .333 wOBA, 33.0 fly ball rate and 35.9 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .240 average, .282 wOBA, 30.0 fly ball rate and 36.5 hard contact rate

If you look up the definition of “boring and average pitcher” in the dictionary, Michael Fulmer might be the picture. Nothing he does stands out to redeem him for fantasy purposes and he’s been over 40 FanDuel points exactly once so far. He’s not a gas can that I’m going to stack up all the Angels. Mike Trout is always going to be an option because he’s Mike Trout. The splits don’t signal us to attack one side or the other. The other two Angels I’d be fine with are Justin Upton and Andrelton Simmons. This likely isn’t the spot to attack on such a big slate.

Home Run Pick – Leonys Martin
