Having the succession of head coaches like Kirby Smart with the Georgia Bulldogs and Mark Richt with the Miami Hurricanes back-to-back feels right for some reason. Both Smart and Richt were much better off with their newfound positions with each program. Richt did a nice job at Georgia but took Miami to the point of College Football Playoff contender last year.

As a well-known team builder and player’s coach, Richt has to definitely be one of the better coaches in the nation to play for. He takes his teams on trips a lot during the off-season to build up communities even outside of the country. And, he took this Miami roster and started some cool things there too, namely the turnover chain.

Miami is projected as a top 15 team again this season and should be a contender to win the ACC for the first time too. The Hurricanes will need to fend off other competitors in the conference like the Virginia Tech Hokies and Florida State Seminoles which will be a difficult task, to say the least. Even if Miami gets the best of Virginia Tech and FSU, it still has the Clemson Tigers waiting at the end of the road.

However, that doesn’t take away from the perfect fit that Richt is for this job at his alma mater. Miami did a great job hiring him last season when he was let go from Georgia, and it worked out well for both parties.
