30 college football head coaches cooler than your coolest uncle

A few years ago, the former Texas Longhorns head coach Charlie Strong might be higher on this list. But, he’s managed to work his way down after the way things went for him in Austin, over the course of his three-year tenure there.

After Texas let him go, Strong wound up as the head coach for the South Florida Bulls, following that departure of Willie Taggart to the Oregon Ducks. What’s keeping Strong a bit higher is his success with quarterback Quinton Flowers and the Bulls last season, nearly guiding the program to an AAC Championship.

If not for the UCF Knights undefeated run through the AAC last season, USF should’ve won that conference. Moreover, Strong and the Bulls gave UCF it’s most entertaining matchup of the 2017 campaign, and one of the best Group of Five games all season.

Strong is a coach that looks for the best out of his players and looks the part when that strategy ultimately succeeds. It’s great to see this type of head coach succeeding at better programs across the nation, and Strong fits the bill in that regard with USF
