Carolina Panthers: Torrey Smith vs. D.J. Moore

The Carolina Panthers made it back to the playoffs last season, this after missing it the year before. While that is not such a big deal, they did make it to the Super Bowl the year before that, so it was a great sign to the fan base that they are back where they belong as a perennial playoff contender.

There is a lot of things going on within this organization, as ownership is changing hands, and the personnel on the field has changed this offseason. One area that is going to look different is at wide receiver, where the team is looking for someone to step up and be that No. 2 wideout behind Devin Funchess.

Funchess emerged as one of the best wideouts in the NFC last season, and a favorite option for quarterback Cam Newton. With a healthy Newton under center, the Panthers should challenge in a very tough NFC South again in 2018, and it will be up to Torrey Smith and rookie D.J. Moore to add another top weapon in the passing game.

Smith comes over to the Panthers from the Philadelphia Eagles, where he won a Super Bowl ring last summer. He was traded to the Panthers for cornerback Daryl Worley, and many expect him to play a huge role in the offense this season.

Moore was a top pick of the team, and has the talent to be an elite wideout at the next level. Funchess is obviously going to be the top option in the passing game, but it will be interesting to see whether or not it is Smith or Moore that Newton looks to as his second option in 2018.
