Miami Dolphins — Geno Atkins

After releasing Ndamukong Suh with very little financial benefit, the Dolphins have a glaring hole in the middle of the defensive front but they’re making up for it with little financial flexibility to do much about it.

The Bengals could be looking at a house cleaning in 2019, leaving an aging veteran like Atkins without a job. Will the Bengals really want to pay a 31-year-old defensive tackle whose best years are behind him? Probably not. Would the Dolphins? Where does Mike Tannenbaum sign?

Atkins may not be Suh in terms of his down-to-down impact on the game, but Atkins still has game. He’s posted 8.5 or more sacks each of the last three seasons and remains an excellent interior pass rusher. He’s just not doing the Bengals much good on a middling team.

What Cincy should do is try to deal Atkins now and get some value for him ahead of what really should be a rebuild. But it’s not as if the Bengals are the paragon of roster management either.
