Chicago Bears – Trey Burton

It’s no secret that GM Ryan Pace has done everything he can to surround franchise quarterback Mitchell Trubisky with weapons on offense this offseason, and one key to that strategy’s success will lie in the play of the tight end position. New head coach and former Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy knows how to utilize tight ends, which could lead to a breakout season for former Eagle and Super Bowl hero Trey Burton.

The Bears turned some heads by inking Burton to a four-year, $32 million deal in free agency, a steep price to pay for someone who has spent his entire career as a backup, as he spent the past four seasons with Philadelphia backing up Zach Ertz and Brent Celek. Burton enjoyed his best career season to date in 2017 with the Eagles, hauling in 23 receptions for 248 yards and five touchdowns.

One only has to look to the success of Travis Kelce in Kansas City to imagine the kind of season Burton could have with Nagy now in the fold. The Bears have done a great job at acquiring young offensive talent over the past several years and they’ll now hope it all comes together to get back to the playoffs for the first time since 2010.
