Detroit Red Wings: Kid Rock
When you are born and raised in the Detroit area, there is one certainty in life: you root for the hometown Detroit Red Wings. Singer Kid Rock is no exception that rule.
Kid Rock was born as Robert James Ritchie in Romeo, Michigan. His father was the owner of multiple car dealerships, and he grew up living in his mansion near Detroit. As he grew older, Kid Rock took up an interest in hip hop, and began his career as a member of the group “The Beast Crew” in the late 1980s. After eventually signing with Jive Records, Kid Rock released his debut album Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast in 1990.
As he continued his music career, Kid Rock went on to release further albums in the ‘90s, including The Polyfuze Method, Early Mornin’ Stoned Pimped, and Devil Without a Cause. As his career continued into the 21st century, he began to move further away from the hip hop style. One of his biggest hits was the song “All Summer Long,” which was released in 2007, and was made as somewhat of a mash-up with “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd and “Werewolves of London” by Warren Zevon.
In addition to his music, Kid Rock has also made numerous appearances with World Wrestling Entertainment, even being inducted into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018.
As a hockey fan, Kid Rock has watched his favorite team enjoy plenty of success. The Red Wings have won a grand total of 11 Stanley Cups in their franchise history, which is the third most of all NHL clubs. In Kid Rock’s lifetime, the Red Wings have won the Cup four times, winning it in 1997, 1998, 2002, and 2008.
Kid Rock can often be found attending Red Wings home games in Detroit, and has frequently worn Red Wings paraphernalia during his performances.
