St. Louis Blues: Jon Hamm

If you’ve ever watched the television series Mad Men, which ran from 2007 to 2015, then you are very familiar with actor Jon Hamm, who starred as Don Draper in the series.

Due to his acting career, Hamm has lived in Los Angeles for many years. But he’s got the city of St. Louis in his blood, and because of that, he bleeds blue for the St. Louis Blues, and has his entire life.

Hamm was born in St. Louis, and due to his parents’ divorce when he was still a baby, he grew up living in various places all over the St. Louis area. The Blues were one of the teams created in the 1967 NHL expansion, just four years before Hamm was born in 1971.

In their first three years of existence, the Blues reached the Stanley Cup Final each year. But they lost all three times, first to the Montreal Canadiens in 1968 and 1969, and then to the Boston Bruins in 1970. Hamm came along one year later, and the Blues have had nothing but problems in the playoffs ever since. They’ve come close on a few occasions, but have yet to make it back to the Stanley Cup Final.

In addition to the Blues, Hamm is also a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He’s had a little better luck with his hometown baseball team, as the Cardinals have won three World Series titles during Hamm’s lifetime, in 1982, 2006 and 2011. Hamm also narrated the 2011 World Series film for Major League Baseball.

Even though the Rams are no longer in St. Louis, Hamm got to witness them win the Super Bowl in 1999. No such luck for his beloved Blues though. Maybe the bad luck will turn around one of these days.
