Vegas Golden Knights: Bryce Harper
Bryce Harper might be one of the best in the world at knocking baseballs out of the ballpark, but now that his hometown of Las Vegas has a professional hockey team, he’s got more on his plate to worry about than just baseball.
Harper is the well-known superstar outfielder for the Washington Nationals. He’s also considered one of the best hitters in Major League Baseball. He was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, and attended Las Vegas High School before making the leap to professional baseball. At the age of 17, Harper was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 Major League Baseball draft, selected by the Nationals.
Now at the age of 25, Harper has already racked up plenty of awards, such as NL Rookie of the Year, an NL MVP award, a Silver Slugger award, an NL Hank Aaron award, and an NL homerun leader award.
Last year, when his hometown of Las Vegas was granted its first ever professional sports team in the Vegas Golden Knights, Harper quickly became a fan. He might currently be finding himself in a sticky situation though, as his hometown Golden Knights are playing in the Stanley Cup Final against the team from the city he plays baseball in, the Washington Capitals.
Next: Seattle should get better expansion rules than Vegas
But there’s no doubt who Harper is rooting for. He bleeds black, gold, and gray for the Golden Knights all the way. It’s safe to say he was pleased with how the 2018 Final started out, as Vegas took a 1-0 series lead after defeating the Capitals 6-4.
