Oracle Arena doesn’t sell out for Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

Ever since the Golden State Warriors took down the Houston Rockets in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, fans around the league have been groaning about the parity in the NBA. This is the matchup nobody wanted to see. For a fourth consecutive season. the Cavaliers and Warriors are meeting in the Finals. Although the first two series were instant classics, last year’s was anything but and that’s how this year’s is hyped up to be — so much so, Oracle Arena still had hundreds of tickets available for Game 1 just minutes prior to tipoff.

Kyrie Irving’s departure from Cleveland and Kevin Durant’s arrival in the Bay Area really turned the tables in this rivalry. The Warriors are now undoubtedly one of the greatest teams ever assembled. And the Cavs are, well, LeBron James. Of course, Kevin Love is there too. But he’s as inconsistent as they come when he’s healthy, which he hardly is. For this reason, it seems as if even Golden State fans are unpleased by this pairing in the Finals again this year. Of course, there will be thousands in attendance for each matchup. But, it speaks volumes when Game 1 of the NBA Finals doesn’t sell out.

Next: Best NBA Teams To Never Win NBA Finals

Not many people are excited for an NBA Finals series for the first time in a long time. It was cute for the first few seasons as the two teams were incredibly well matched. It’s a well-known fact that much of the NBA believed heading into the season that whoever won the West was winning the Finals. Regardless, expect this series to be over quickly and don’t expect many games — if any — to sell out. Other than maybe Game 5, if there is one.
