5. Philadelphia 76ers

It truly appears as if it’ll come down to Los Angeles or Oklahoma City for Paul George. But we live in a world where executives and Finals MVPs are using burner accounts to bash players and former teammates. So, while LA and OKC might be the only places George has openly spoken about, for all we know he’s secretly been talking about Philadelphia and other destinations under the screen name 1PierceGarnett3.

The Sixers have the cap space to sign any free agent they want. They made a strong pitch to any potential free agent this season by finishing third the East and playing an exciting brand of basketball. Ben Simmons is a pass first, second, and third point forward who is only going to get better. Joel Embiid is the perfect center for today’s NBA and is, at worst, the second best center in the league. They move the ball, they have shooters, and they have length and athleticism on defense. George would appear to be a perfect fit alongside Philly’s young talent.

The organization can sell him on being part of a team, while not completely sacrificing his individuality. The one thing the Sixers are missing is a guy who can go one-on-one in big moments and hit tough shots. George can be the closer we all know he wants to be, even if the numbers don’t support him being that guy.

The Bryan Colangelo investigation might be a turn-off for George, but Colangelo never buried him on the burner accounts.
