Rumors have swirled about the projects Peter Jackson is pursuing next, but it doesn’t look like either the Lord of the Rings TV series or a DC Comics-based movie are in his future.

Peter Jackson has been swift when it comes to the rumors of late. Amazon is gearing up for the juggernaut of a financial hurdle that is the Lord of the Rings TV adaptation, and rumors swirled heavily around whether the architect of the original vision would make his presence felt.

In an interview with french publication Allocine, Jackson was quick to dispel rumors of any involvement in what Amazon or the DC universe are cooking up.

“I’m not involved at all with the Lord of the Rings series, I understand my name can be quoted, but nothing is happening with me on this project,” Jackson said.

Jackson went on to admit at least being involved with the series assisting the creative team behind the show.

Not being completely behind the series could be a bummer in itself for Lord of the Rings fans, but Jackson even said that he felt the team behind it was going in all the right directions and had good intentions. He went as far to say that his involvement wasn’t appropriate to be a showrunner for the series but felt right as an aid to the creative team.

Rumors shifted however to the DC Universe which has seen plenty of better days. After the struggles of Justice League, Batman v. Superman, etc., it’s easy to see a name like Jackson rumored and get hopes high. At least Wonder Woman was good!

“It’s not true, I have not had any discussions about it, I’m not a fan of comics, I’ve never read it, and so it’s not me,” Jackson said. “I’m not particularly interested in adapting one to the cinema, it’s not true at all.”

Rumors are just that, but it would be nice to see what Jackson would do in a universe that is in desperate need of vision like his. All directors are different, but a Jackson-spun DC film? That’s interesting.

He summed up his current stance pretty quickly to finish his interview with the French publication.

“A DC film and the series Lord of the Rings, it’s done without me, but I’m happy. I have plenty of other projects that take up my time!”

Next: A Jared Leto solo Joker movie is happening, for some reason

Something could still bring Jackson toward the universe but without reading a comic book, what would sway him? There are definitely a lot of directors with vision that could help shift the divide we’re seeing, but will Jackson ever end up as one?

Maybe not, but at least we’ve got Mortal Engines at least to look forward to!
