3. Brad Brach

The Orioles don’t like to trade talent to the Yankees, but Brad Brach might be an exception. The fact that he’s going to be a free agent this summer means this is Baltimore’s last chance to get any real value for the six-foot-six reliever.

His contract status also means the Yankees wouldn’t need to give up a ton to acquire him. That, in large part, catapults him up this list ahead of some more talented relievers.

He’s got a respectable ERA of 3.27 in 22 innings for the O’s this season but he hasn’t been dominant. Brach is more equipped to be a 6th or 7th inning option for Boone and company. He doesn’t have the pure stuff to blow hitters away in high leverage situations.

Remember though, the Yankees are working to try to shorten games. Having a player like Brach who can come in and relieve a starter after a short outing would give the team real value. That happens to be a role where Brach can excel.

Brach doesn’t project to be a top option for Cashman, but he could be a nice, cheap addition if the Yankees miss out on a few of their top targets. It shouldn’t surprise anyone if he dons pinstripes before the trade deadline.
