HOUSTON, TX – APRIL 15: Clint Capela #15 of the Houston Rockets speaks during the post-game press conference after Game One of Round One against the Minnesota Timberwolves of the 2018 NBA Playoffs on April 15, 2018 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Capela offers an option for the Suns if they believe that Luka Doncic is a better fit for their franchise than DeAndre Ayton. The Houston Rockets big man has really developed into an excellent player. He is an intimidating shot blocker, an impressive rebounder, and has infinite range as a lob threat. He’s a younger version of DeAndre Jordan, a player that helped bring the Clippers into the playoffs alongside Blake Griffin and Chris Paul.

If the Suns draft Doncic, that gives them a wing playmaker that can get points in the pick and roll with Capela. He has great vision and touch, with the height to make passes other ballhandlers might not be able to make. Capela is adept at setting screens, and being patient on his dives to the rim as the defense decides how they want to rotate to contain the dribble penetration.

The Suns tried to find a franchise center in the 2013 draft in Alex Len — it’s safe to say that Len hasn’t developed into the player they hoped they were getting when they selected him fifth overall. Finding a big man that can anchor their defense would be a huge get for the Suns in the offseason.
