The Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals encountered a fan with a “the Djoos is loose” shirt, and they liked it so much they made a trade for it.

The Washington Capitals are back in Washington D.C. for the first time since claiming the first Stanley Cup in franchise history, but apparently the copious amounts of Stanley Cup champion apparel wasn’t good enough for them.

The Capitals were getting ready to leave Kettler Capitals Iceplex to head to National Park for the afternoon, when Tom Wilson spotted a fan wearing a Christian Djoos-inspired “The Djoos is loose” shirt created by Capitals fansite Russian Machine Never Breaks. The Caps absolutely had to have it.

TJ Oshie was the one who made the trade for the shirt,

Back on the bus, Christian Djoos donned the shirt that was designed in his honor, though it admittedly looks a little big on him.

After making the trade for the shirt, the Capitals head down to southeast Washington D.C. for the Washington Nationals game against the San Francisco Giants as part of their pre-parade victory tour. The long-coveted Stanley Cup accompanied them every step of the way, and likely won’t be leaving them for weeks.

They met with the Nationals, and shared the trophy with them before the game. All the Capitals stuck around for the game itself, Stanley Cup still in tow and the hangover from the victory party still if effect.

This is just the start of a long overdue victory tour for the Washington Capitals. They’ve still got plenty of places in D.C left to visit, and the official Stanley Cup parade will be on Tuesday June 12 at 11 a.m. ET. These guys have earned every second of this, and they’re gonna enjoy all of it.
