Draftkings fantasy golf picks: U.S. Open 2018
Below 7,000
Steve Stricker ($6,900)
Splitting time between the Champions Tour and PGA Tour, Stricker has been quite good this season, making 6-of-7 cuts on the latter and not finishing worse than T32 in any event that he saw the weekend. You have to like his solid, consistent play heading into the U.S. Open on DraftKings.
Braden Thornberry ($6,700)
Still an amateur, we’ve seen the upside of Thornberry, most recently last week at the St. Jude when he made a run at the top of the leaderboard before faltering on Sunday. He could be interesting value for fantasy golf picks.
Charles Howell ($6,700)
In truth, I don’t know why Howell is this cheap, but you should take advantage. He’s missed just two cuts in 19 tournaments played this season and has three top-10s to his credit. What’s more, he has four finishes of T26 or better in his last five tournaments.
Ryan Fox ($6,500)
While playing in Europe, Fox has been inconsistent this season, but with upside. He finished T8 at the Italian Open his last time out and has another top-10 finish to his credit. He could have upside at this price.
Sam Burns ($6,400)
One of my favorite value plays of the tournament, Burns has made 7-of-9 PGA Tour cuts this season while also playing on the Web.com Tour. More importantly, he fired off a 62 in a qualifier to make this major field, which could be a good sign for him.
Ryan Evans ($6,200)
Really at this price point on DraftKings, you’re looking and praying for someone who’s going to make the cut at the U.S. Open. Evans has played in Europe this season, but has only two missed cuts in 13 events played. That’s intriguing, certainly.
Dean Burmester ($6,000)
Obviously an extreme value play here, but not a bad one. Burmester has played in Europe for most of this season, making 14-of-17 cuts throughout his season. What’s more, he’s coming off T12 at the BMW PGA Championship and T30 at the Italian Open.
