Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers’ ability to provide James with a viable situation in which to win titles depends not just on their ability to sign him, but to acquire other stars as well. There mutual interest with Paul George and L.A. will undoubtedly put its name in Kawhi Leonard trade talks if the Spurs become intent upon dealing him. The Lakers will swing big in free agency. But what if they miss?

Barring a union with another star, it’s difficult to imagine James viewing the Lakers as a real threat to the Warriors next season. The Lakers are several years away from rising back to the top of the West, let alone contending for a championship. Even James probably doesn’t change that equation.
