Germany face Mexico at the Luzhniki Stadium on Sunday, June 17. Here’s all the info you need to watch the World Cup match.

Defending World Cup champions Germany begin defense of their title on Sunday when they face Mexico at Luzhniki Stadium in Mexico. The Germans are again expected to compete for another World Cup. Mexico expect to get out of the group. Winning the first game of the group stage will put either team that much closer to advancing to the round of 16.

In the two friendlies held before the start of the World Cup, Germany were disappointing. Die Mannschaft lost to Austria and barely beat a Saudi Arabi side that were demolished in the opening game of the tournament. Joachim Low announced that Manuel Neuer will be Germany’s first choice keeper if he is healthy. Neuer has barely played over the past two seasons after undergoing two surgeries on his foot. The Germans have a strong defense built around three Bayern Munich players, Joshua Kimmich, Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng. Germany’s midfield is one of the best in the tournament. However, the status of Mesut Ozil is unknown. The Arsenal star was expected to start behind Timo Werner but an injury might not let him play in the first game.

Mexico’s defense will be tested against Germany. Guillermo Ochoa will be heavily tested. Carlos Salcedo is coming off of a strong season with Eintracht Frankfurt and needs to continue playing well in Russia. Up front, Mexico’s attack will be lead by Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez. The West Ham striker had a disappointing season, scoring only eight goals in his first season with the London club. Hirving Lozano will be one player to watch for Mexico in the tournament. The PSV winger had an incredible season, scoring 19 goals and adding 11 assists in all competitions.
