How good is the Yankees pitching rotation, and can it be better?
1. Luis Severino
Any Yankee fan who expected more out of Severino this season should have their head examined. He’s been the epitome of a dominant ace. The way he’s thrown the ball so far this year certainly has him in the mix for Cy Young consideration.
Severino has racked up a record of 10-2 with a sterling ERA of 2.09. That’s clearly the best mark on the staff. Every time he steps on the mound the Yankees expect to emerge with a victory.
It’s hard to choose which pitch he throws best. Severino has an excellent fastball that has both excellent velocity and movement. The fact that Severino can still touch 100 mph when he’s around his 100th pitch makes him really difficult to hit. He generally gets better as the game goes along.
If you don’t like his fastball, he also features one of the best breaking balls in the game. The depth he gets on the pitch is borderline unbelievable. His off speed stuff is a big reason he’s been able to strike out 118 hitters in just 99 innings pitched.

Luis Severino is one of the best pitchers in all of baseball. The fact that he can possibly improve as he ages is a frightening thought for opposing hitters. His performance this season has been dominant and he gets a great grade as a result.
