1. Robert Williams

Most of the prospects who figure to be available at No. 17 just happen to be wings. Robert Williams might be the only center the Bucks will consider who can realistically drop to that point in the draft. Most expect him to go a touch earlier, but the lack of value placed on centers in the league this summer could cause him to drop.

If he does, the Bucks should snap him up. He’s not going to help their perimeter floor spacing on the offensive end, but he would immediately upgrade the team’s defense. His quick feet and shot blocking ability would allow im to make an immediate impact in Budenholzer’s defensive system.

On the offensive end, he’s a rim runner, plain and simple. His job would be to set massive screens for Bledsoe and Giannis on as many possessions as possible. Then, his ability to run to the rim and finish lops would create space for the Bucks offense in a different manner.

The knocks on Williams game is that he’s a non-shooter and his effort tended to wax and wane with the Aggies. The former isn’t likely to change. The latter is something a talented coach like Budenholzer can help in short order.

If Robert Williams falls to No. 17 the Bucks will need to abandon their plans of adding a wing. Drafting a starting center would be a real boost for the franchise.
